NORTHERN LIGHTS - a nordic symphony in light

Inspired by the beauty and majesty of City Hall I created NORTHERN LIGHTS for this special place. The composition consisted of 328 autonomous diapositives complemented by electro-acoustic background sounds. The piece was divided into three movements with themes especially associated with Stockholm such as nature, history and urban pulse. The diapositives were projected onto thin transparent veils that floated about in the wind while the images imperceptibly faded over and were woven into one another in a constant flow all around the spectator. The piece was shown every evening during February 1999. The Northern Lights was carried out with support of: The Swedish Visual Arts Fund, B. A. Daneliis Fund and the city of Stockholm.
